Advocacy involves representing individuals to ensure they receive fair treatment and attain desired outcomes. Within the RSL context, it means supporting veterans in claiming entitled benefits from the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) based on their service.

Our Sub Branch prioritizes aiding current and former service members and their families. Our volunteer Advocates, offer free services, supporting individuals through the preparation of VEA, MRCA, DRCA and SCRA claims for the best possible outcomes.

Navigating DVA claims for service-related conditions can be intricate, but our qualified advocates simplify the process, offering guidance and support.

Working with an advocate provides four primary benefits.

Supporting Guidance

Our advocate liaises with DVA on behalf of their clients. They will ensure you have all the documentation and evidence you need to prove your claim and support you through the process. Be aware, claims can take some time to be assessed and approved, but our advocates will keep you informed at every stage.

Specialist Knowledge

Our advocates possess in-depth knowledge of veteran compensation laws and procedures, drawing on extensive experience within our organisation. Many advocates are former Defence members, fostering a unique bond with clients through shared military experiences. They understand what it means to have served and to have transitioned back into civilian life.

Our Sub Branch advocates are all knowledgeable about the Commonwealth Acts governing veteran compensation and the claims process.

A Comprehensive Approach

Our advocates work to ensure veterans receive any compensation they’re entitled to, they are also able to link them with other programs and services that will result in a better overall outcome.

Advocates Are On Your Side

Ultimately, our advocates are there to help veterans. Our advocacy services are provided completely free of charge, and you don’t have to be an RSL member to get assistance.

Take the time to find out how we can help. Our advocates can work with you face-to-face, via telephone or online, including lodging your claim online.
